@hrhjudy Satan means adversary in Hebrew. In my own humble opinion the 'devil' is an analogy/metaphor representing the egotistical 'self' in human thought and action and therefore is our chief adversary. We must overcome our 'ego-self' (the devil) in order to realise unity in all.

Many of the so-called "robber barons" were the same way, but I agree that Carnegie was the most philanthropic and prolific of them all. He should stand as a hero to all those that achieve the American dream, for he is the epitome of it and proof of its possibilities.

You have to train you mind by the use of practical exercises to get control over your mind. And the only way to do that is to kill off all your impulses and bad habits. Then your mind becomes less impulsiv and you will be aibel to concentrate and when you are aibel to concentrate you will be aibel to control your willpower (they are connected). I will recommend the book "the power of mental concentration by William W. Atkinson. Its brilliant.

I purchased Think and Grow Rich 30 years ago, i still have the book and i reread it from time to time. I used many principles in this book to make my busines life successful, they do work, it works.
TO JayBlue72, for all the people that have worked for me have been paid, nobody worked for free so they were not used. If a person through an idea takes a rick and it works out he then should be rewarded. I feel sorry for the way you think.

I think there is something to the believe/conceive/achieve bit, but it clearly has limits. Otherwise, wouldn't Norman Vincent Peale still be alive? Couldn't he have simply believed he would continue to live? Ok, that was just one guy, so what about this: not one person has ever lived through a glioblastoma multiforme tumor. Were none of the victims believe/conceive/achieve people?
